【摘要】:ThismethodisfordeterminingphenolsandhinderedphenolsinpetroleumfractionsuptoandincludingNo.2distillates;e.g.,gasolines,naphthas,kerosines,jetfuels,No.1fuelsandNo.2fuels.TheproceduregivesnicelydefinedtitrationcurvesandendpointsonsamplesuptoNo.1distillate,butNo.2oilssometimesgivetitrationcurveswithill-definedendpoints.Thereisnowaytopredictthisbehavior,sotheanalystmustsimplytryitonthesample.Phenolsashinderedasbutylhydroxytoluene(BHT)canbetitrateddirectlyusingthismethod.Provisionisincludedtoovercometheacidityofmercaptansandthiophenolsviaamildoxidationtothecorrespondingdisulfides.
